The loophole of doubting your own existence

When I was starting middle school, I came across a diary (it wasn’t exactly a diary it was more like a collection of memories throughout his life) of an author who passed away 2 decades ago. One thing the got my attention the most is when the author started introducing himself, it was something like this (“everyone should keep a journal to write what s/he saw or watch not what he/she ate or cook or spend and gain (money mostly) but what came across his/her mind of ideas and emotions, so one day s/he can find his/her self that s/he lost. Don’t be surprised because every day a cell dies a new come alive. Our thoughts and beliefs change same goes for our emotions and attitudes as we grow up. The gone person is me and the born is also me……”) unfortunately I can’t recommend the book(s) since it is not translated to English (I doubt it will ever be).

Anyway, taking a general look at our lives today and before. We were and will remain (I guess) a slave to something in unconscious manner whether it was Voluntary or compulsory such as money, maintaining a good relationship with someone, or simply being able to have a specific thing. At some point of our eternal chase of happiness that we think we can get from what we are chasing. We slowly become a new person or it can change a huge part of us sometime it leaves nothing from our older selves. That been said we can’t really tell whether there is an original version and the others are sub ones.

To make my idea clear. Let’s take an example. Now think about a teenager called Q. Q is a lazy person always studying at the exam night but when Q have a conversation with a friend discussing college life. Q start realizing that s/he have no chance of getting to any decent college thus s/he starts studying earlier and more, by time Q starts eating healthier food and working out cause junk food make him/her feel full and lack of exercise cause him/her to be distract it while studying easily hence these factors affect his studying strongly. After a reasonable amount of time a bunch of new habits start evolving around his centeric goal, looking closely we can see that we obtained a new human being. Habits is what make him/her, but make habit is the desire for something.

Look I’m aware that there are various other reasons that can change a human other than the one mentioned above like: shocking experiences or accidents. But I just want to stop here to drop ask the eternal question (who am I?)

Am I a collection of coincidences of that held in one physical thing and fulled of repetitive behavior just to shape a soul that do not exist in the same dimension as the physical body?
